Dr Sheila Cassidy was the Medical Director of St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth. Sheila Cassidy survived torture under the Pinochet regime in Chile in 1975, an account of which can be read in her book 'Audacity to Believe' (1977). She held the post at St Luke’s Hospice for fifteen years and then continued to specialise in palliative care.
